We get it, reusable bags are not a new concept. We appreciate that reusable bags in their current form are an imperfect solution, so we’re redefining the reusable bag.

In partnership with our customers and vendors, we have made the commitment to include recycled content in ALL of our bags with the ultimate goal of incorporating compostable materials into the bags we produce. One day, in the not too distant future, we will move away from petroleum based materials, even those from recycled sources, and into compostable. Why wait? We would like to start down this road today, but the available substrates on the market aren’t quite ready for prime time. Persistent issues with supply, price and durability remain. We are confident that new technologies will emerge, helping us to create more candidates and allowing us to bring compostable bags to the mass market.

Always challenging the status quo to set the bar higher, our commitment doesn’t end with the materials we choose. Our vendor partners have been personally vetted and each must retain multiple independent, third-party certifications in order to remain part of our manufacturing matrix. To reflect Kodiak’s internal values, they too must show a commitment to the environment, their people and those they work with and for. This is an unyielding core principle of ours and one that resonates with our like-minded customers.

We are in constant pursuit of a more perfect solution, and while it’s just beyond our reach today, we are more optimistic than ever that it’s right around the next corner.
